We've Moved

We did it. We packed up our modern loft, said goodbye to our wonderful friends, and drove 4 hours North to relocate our lives to the beautiful city of San Luis Obispo, CA (SLO). When I was seventeen, I moved from my hometown of Hemet to be closer to my mom who was at the time living in Los Olivos. I started taking classes at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria. There I met artsy friends who, every Thursday loaded up into a dirty Toyota Corolla with emo music blasting through the speakers and headed to the SLO Farmers Market.  The farmers market is celebrating 35 years of closing the streets of downtown to offer the community a wide selection of local provisions, fruits and vegetables. While shopping, local eateries have pop-up food carts where you can enjoy a tapas style dinner by getting a little something from each cart. All of this is complemented by the drifting sweet sounds of street musicians and performers. Although I loved SLO it wasn’t my first choice to move there when I left home. My sister who lived in Pasadena needed a roommate, and so began my life in “LA”. During one of our first dates my husband was telling me his “story” and how SLO was one of the first cities he lived in when he moved to California from Pennsylvania. We always thought it was a place we would end up one day- realistically to retire. Fast forward 7 years, we had the opportunity to move to our beloved city. Like all moves of course there has been some things we’ve had to adjust to from living in a busy downtown to the SLO life (pun intended) such as, a lot of stores are closed on Sundays and we don’t really know anyone. I really can’t complain though- life here is pretty sweet.I’m starting this blog to:
1. Practice writing.
2. Share the fun and beauty of the central coast.
3. Escape from desk job boredom.

ENJOY!
